Why BoatID exists

My name is Simon, and I've been interested in boats for most of my life. I currently own two boats — one on the Thames, and a RIB on the South Coast.

After my own RIB was stolen, I was fortunate enough to get it back — but only because the trailer was displaying my vehicle registration. That experience made me realise there was no simple, independent registry for ordinary boats like mine.

So BoatID gives every sea boat a permanent digital identity. It's a simple way for owners to record, protect and share important information about their boat — for free, and without needing the same luck I had.
